There are several different kinds of Fascia Soffit Gutter. All are designed to do a slightly different job, but all are equally important in protecting the fabric of your home from the worst of the weather. Traditionally, roofline was made from long, continuous wooden boards. Just like wooden window frames, however wooden roofline requires regular maintenance and repainting if it’s to stay looking and performing at it’s best.

For that reason, many homeowners over the last 20 years or so have opted to replace rotting timber roofline with low maintenance UPVC alternatives. The Elegance Home Improvements range of roofline products offers a wide choice of styles and colours, including woodgrain to complement our natural frame effect windows and doors. So as well making sure your roof timbers and brickwork are protected from
wind-driven rain, they also bring lasting kerb appeal to your property.

Elegant Roofline

Fascia is an architectural term for a vertical frieze or band under a roof edge, or which forms the outer surface of a cornice, visible to an observer.

The horizontal “fascia board” which caps the end of rafters outside a building is used to hold the rain gutter. The finished surface below the fascia and rafters is called the soffit or eave.

The term ‘soffit’ refers to the material forming a ceiling from the top of an exterior house wall to the outer edge of the roof, i.e., bridging the gap between a home’s siding and the roofline, otherwise known as the eaves.

Soffit exposure profile (from wall to fascia) on a building’s exterior can vary from a few centimetres (2-3 inches) to 3 feet or more, depending on construction. It can be non-ventilated or ventilated, to prevent condensation. A grill that covers the venting opening on the bottom of the soffit is called a soffit vent.

Bargeboard is a board fastened to the projecting gables of a roof to give them strength, protection, and to conceal the otherwise exposed end of the horizontal timbers or purlins of the roof to which they were attached.
